$350 million investment to create Mandurah’s new retail heart

Undergoing a $350 million revitalisation, Mandurah Forum is set to become the new retail heart for the booming population of southern Perth.

Western Australian Premier, the Hon Colin Barnett MLA joined Vicinity Centres Executive General Manager of Development, Mr Jonathan Timms to unveil the transformation project.

Jonathan Timms said: “Almost doubling in size, we are creating a Major Regional shopping centre with the introduction of the first next generation David Jones store in WA which will anchor an upgraded fashion offer at the centre, and also include an enhanced food and dining offer.”

Along with David Jones, the development will also introduce a Target store to complement the existing major retailers in the centre – Kmart, Big W, Coles and Woolworths.

With a retail offer including more than 220 stores, the new centre will be a destination offering premium and fashion-forward brands and the best of everyday fashion for the whole family.

The transformed centre will include a range of food and dining offers including a café and restaurant precinct with al fresco dining options designed around a water oasis, a contemporary café terrace-style food court with outdoor seating, and a food market hall offering both fresh food and convenience items. The centre will also feature iconic children’s play areas.

Customer convenience will also be enhanced with over 3,000 parking bays, including a new multi-deck and shaded rooftop car park.

With construction set to commence next month, the completely transformed centre is expected to open in 2018 and the centre will continue to trade throughout the redevelopment.

With the $55 million redevelopment of Halls Head Central (opened 17 March 2016) and an $8 million redevelopment at Rockingham Shopping Centre, Vicinity Centres is investing more than $400 million into the burgeoning Peel region and its surrounds.
